So I was not expecting to write today because p day was moved to Wednesday but even when p day is moved they still want us to write letters on Monday. It was not like that when I was out here before.
So last week was a hot hot hot week. The heat index was at about 113 degrees most of the week. We did not have the car so again we spent a lot of time on bikes and I have to say I have never sweat that much. That is probably nasty to hear but it happened. I also don’t think I have ever been on a bike that long, a few hours every day and more miles than I can count. I have been enjoying it though. Well as much enjoyment as you can get out of doing high exertion physical exercise in brutal heat. The part that makes it hard is that the shade is just as hot as the sun. So unless you are inside there is no escaping it.
I am learning a lot from Elder Knight. He is really skilled at talking to people and at finding ways to keep people talking with us. He has learned to be able to start conversations that quickly break down the barriers that people often put up when they see us and he is able to ask questions that they actually enjoy answering. He is really good at teaching the gospel simply and in a way that is clear to those he is teaching. I still have much to learn from him and I look forward to this chance to continue to learn and grow.
The kids that we are teaching still have a baptism date set for the 28th of this month. The family has already invited family into town for it and they are doing well. Everything is still on schedule and we will continue to help them prepare for this blessed date. We have an appointment with them later today but the way things have been in the past there is little that will stop these kids from being baptized. They are excited for this day and can’t wait for it.
Most of our time is spent currently trying to contact people that have been referred to us or that we have lost contact with. Many hours are spent riding from one end of Urbandale to the other (Urbandale is part of Des Moines). It is a lot of work but we find ways to make it enjoyable. Other than that we try to avoid tracting as that many hours in the brutal heat is not good for you, but sometimes it cannot be helped.
I am learning and growing a lot. I am so grateful for this chance I have to be here. It is amazing the changes I have seen in myself and in others.
I thank all of you for all that you do for me…. Thought my mail box is continually empty. I have received 2 letters one from my dad and one from a friend. Please send more. (I am hoping for more in the mail today but we will see if it is empty again.) please write me. and thank you those that have emiled.

I love you
